My special way of traveling

Hello again,

This time I will use my imagination to introduce my special way of traveling, so I do not expect you to believe everything is written here:)

We have seen many movies that present the idea of time traveling. We have heard many ideas about inventing a machine that can take us to the future or back into the past! All these thoughts about time traveling have been busying my mind recently, and do not ask about the reason since I myself don't know why.

But wait........ Everyday, we travel through time without even realizing it!

Every night, when we look at the stars, we see the past, but how?!

By looking at the stars, you will see things that have been there for millions of years ago, so why do not you ask these stars of how Earth or people were ages ago?!

see! we do not need a time machine or even busying ourselves about the idea of inventing one, just ask them!

Also, when we go to the bed every night, we travel through time, but how?!

Normally, when you go to the bed and before sleeping, you start thinking of the events that happened to you that day and sleep with your mind filled with them. consequently, these events reoccur in your dreams and live them again while you are in the future.

see! we do not need a time machine or even busying ourselves about the idea of inventing one, your bed is your time machine now!

I know this is a bit fictional, but by giving these two simple examples, I am just trying to give you a hint of what you are capable of in terms of using your creative thinking and being able to travel through this universe without movin' a muscle or wastin' time. I mean look at me, I created my own way of time traveling, and yet people still arguing whether it is possible to invent one!

Finally, I just wanted to share this imaginative idea with you as it is one of my beliefs that thinking in this way reinforces healthy, creative consciousness, and I could not help but to share this belief with you:)

This is my special way of traveling.

It is more than loneliness

Dear Samantha, Gareth and Elaine,

I will write about the idea of being lonely and how its concept and the way I visualize it have changed to become something more than a feeling. It is a part of my life now.

Before leaving my country to the United Kingdom, many thoughts crossed my mind about being lonely or rather feeling homesick there. As an endeavor to tackle this problem before it starts to conquer me, I thought it would be a great idea to write all my friends' contact numbers and E-mail addresses before I leave! In this way, I can be in touch with them every time I am lonely.

However, you will be astonished that all that changed and I realized that loneliness is more than missing your family, country or friends.

During my stay here in the UK without my beloved ones, I managed to grasp the implications of being lonely and became aware that I could be lonely, but happier that anyone else! To make it clearer, I will provide you with my new concept for loneliness.

Now, I realize that loneliness is not missing your beloved ones, it is something more than that. I mean you can be lonely in your home and among your family, so what is real loneliness?

I will define it using my own new understanding of it. It is when you feel strange, even in your home, and feel lost and can not find your way out of the maze of life. In this way, you feel like no one is willing to help you or think of you, and imagine that all people look at you as a stranger.... this is the genuine loneliness.

Consequently, I do not pay any attention to these depressing thoughts about being lonely and walk in Nottingham, London or anywhere bearing in mind that all people are my friends and no one holds grudge against me.

Before leaving Jeddah

Have you not experienced that overwhelmed feeling of the desire of going abroad?! I have, I always wanted to discover the world and see different geographical zones such as majestic mountains, rainy forests and even marine life, till' I got my scholarship to the United Kingdom, and then I started to realize that it is my unmissable opportunity and first step to this mysterious world. Do you see how overwhelming it is? That I forgot to introduce myself and the purpose of creating this blog.

I am Ahmed and I was born in Jeddah where I spent and will spend whole my life in. In this blog, I will share my and people's thoughts and experiences regarding travel and describe this world from my point of view and other people's perspectives. But before that, I will provide you with a brief idea of my hometown(Jeddah), and how it is one of the most popular tourists destinations; I mean does everyone of us know where Jeddah really is?!

Jeddah is a mega city located in the middle of west cost of Saudi Arabia. It is the second largest city in Saudi Arabia populated by more than 5 million people. One of the great things about Jeddah is no matter your age, gender or outlook, the city has something to offer. From distinctive architecture to delicious food to entertainment, you can enjoy Jeddah on your own! adjusting in Jeddah is not a problem. Also, Jeddah is overall safe and secure, I can not remember a time I faced a deadly event or in somehow get threatened or abused, you can feel the peace there, no matter where you live, it is better to go out with your friends and enjoy it.

Personally, I think what makes Jeddah an attractive city is the nightlife, the abundance of good restaurants and shopping centers, including the market in the Old City, most products are available, and supermarkets are open seven days a week. By any standard, Jeddah has become a beautiful city to drive through at night, thanks to its 80 kilometers-long Corniche along the Red Sea. Similarly, the architectural design of the ancient buildings is one of the attractions in Jeddah or what is called (the Old Jeddah).

Creative design!

One of the phenomenal attractions in Jeddah is Jeddah Fountain, the highest fountain in the world, which makes people travel from long distances to see it. Myself, I used to spend most of my time near the fountain sitting with my friends having conversations and enjoying the breeze.

Isn't beautiful!?

Lets go near the sea. Jeddah's harbor is the main harbor serving the holy cities Makka(Mecca) and Madina(Medina), it was established in 1976 and since then, it has been developing to be the largest port on the Red Sea coast. It is essential to mention that the Red Sea gives Jeddah a strategic place where most of the supply and military ships cross it, which gives it the advantage of capitalizing on this sea route in terms of importing and exporting.

That is all I have or rather know about Jeddah and since it is not a history lesson, I will not spend more time writing about it. I just wanted to give you a hint of how Jeddah looks like using my perspective to write about my lovely city and what I like in it.

After all and before leaving Jeddah, I think I am relieved now that I fulfilled my duty by showing some loyalty and writing about my birthplace!

Do not miss the next post when I say goodbye to Jeddah and start to explore the world....

Live long and prosper.
